Within our area of the galaxy, we seem to be unique in having a civilization. But what if, instead, we are unique in having a fallen civilization?
When God created mankind, Adam and Eve immediately faced a moral trial, which they failed. As a result, we live in a fallen world filled with broken people trying to find their way back to God.
Perhaps failing that test is the anomaly. We could be surrounded by non-fallen civilizations. Our extraterrestrial kinsmen would live in complete harmony with God and nature. They would have no need for any technology, as there would be no disease, hunger, toil, or even sin. They would exist in a world where suffering, resource competition, and death are foreign concepts.
Those aliens, being made in God’s image, would resemble us spiritually, mentally, and probably physically (adjusting for local gravity and atmosphere). That being said, a first encounter with them would be psychologically more like meeting angels than meeting aliens.
Earth is certainly unique. That doesn’t mean we aren’t surrounded by undetectable civilizations populated by beings living in a peace that humans will know only when our journey in this universe is complete.
